Hundreds of AASU workers carrying placards and banners took out a procession from the city markets before gathering at the gate of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where they continued their protest for nearly an hour. They also raised slogans against the BJP-led government for failing to rein in the price hike.
“The prices of items of daily necessities are making life miserable for the common people. In such a situation, the government is planning to increase the property tax. This will put additional burden on those who are already suffering from inflation. The time has come for the government to abandon its anti-people policies,” said Bulbul Dutta, president of AASU, Dibrugarh district.
