The Bharatiya Janata Party has geared up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the impending assembly elections. Haryana The unit is busy wooing Jats in the state
News18 has learned that the party is planning to woo the dominant community. A senior BJP leader said that a section of Jat leaders have split from the party due to the farmers’ agitation of 2020-21 and “misinformation” given to them by the media against the party.
However, it is important for the BJP to woo the community and not depend on its ally Jannayak Janata Party to garner Jat votes, say insiders.
In 2019, the BJP got 40 out of 90 seats in the assembly and had to join hands with the JJP to form the government.
“Our partners may represent a community, but that doesn’t stop us from reaching out within that community. We do not like to depend on allies to expand our vote bank. The government and the party are two different setups,” the BJP leader said.
The party will launch an outreach program on May 30 which will last for a month. Ministers and leaders will go among the people to publicize about the welfare schemes of the central government. The party has prepared a list of beneficiaries and will hold sammelan (sammelan) and talks with them.
But is the Aam Aadmi Party a cause of concern for the BJP in Haryana?
“Not this. However, we need to maintain our Vaish/Baniya vote bank and not let it move towards AAP.
BJP representatives believe that AAP This may have a definite impact on the Bania community and needs to be addressed as it is the traditional vote bank of the ruling party.
“We need to listen and take suggestions from our voters and not give lectures to them. They may be angry over certain things and we need to listen to them and promise solutions,” said a senior BJP leader.
The party is also focusing on those areas where it has got less votes of a particular community and those areas where there is scope for improvement.
A senior BJP leader said that from Ambala to Karnal, it got only a few votes from the Brahmin community. He said the party would work on such seats.
