South Western Railway (SWR) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted an exercise to test the effectiveness of disaster response mechanism at Yesvantpur railway station in Bengaluru on 30 September.
The exercise began at 10.30 am. Around 100 personnel from various organizations including Railway Protection Force (RPF) were involved in the exercise.

Earlier on September 21, South Western Railway had conducted a security exercise at Ashokapuram railway station in Mysore division. The exercise involved a team of SWR personnel and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) responding to the ‘derailment’ of an express train with 15 passengers ‘trapped’ in two ‘capsised’ bogies. The drill was conducted to test the effectiveness of the Disaster Management Plan which included a series of activities enabling the personnel of various departments of the Railways to practice safety related measures during emergencies.
