New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday F404 The engine for the Tejas fighter aircraft that is delayed by more than two years, Theprint has learned. He urged the US to rapidly track to sign an agreement for joint production F414 Engine between GE and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
These details were not mentioned in an official statement by the Defense Minister, but sources in the Government of India said that Singh raised both issues during a conversation with Hegseth.
A source said, “The delivery of engines is a big issue for us. It has already delayed. The Defense Minister told Hegseth that it needs to be distributed on immediate basis. Our next generation fighters must be based on F414, a contract that has been concluded and signed to be signed quickly,” a source said.

The Ministry of Defense (MOD) said in its statement that the two leaders discussed a detailed canvas of issues from long-term cooperation in the defense sector, including training and military exchange to expand industry cooperation.
The statement stated that they agreed to move forward at the pace of this important and mutually beneficial partnership in all their columns, such as integration of interoperability, integration of defense industrial supply chain, logistics sharing, joint military exercise and collaboration with other similar -ideological partners. It states that Singh “appreciated the extended unwavering support in India in America for his fight against terrorism.”
Hegseth invited Singh to the US for a meeting of a person to carry forward bilateral defense participation.
This was his third telephonic conversation since January this year when Hegseth was confirmed as US Defense Secretary.
