Today’s DNA will show you two different pictures of the same Kashmir. A picture is of Kashmir wrapped in tricolour. From the streets to the Dal Lake, this Kashmir is drenched in the colors of patriotism. Every house in Kashmir is waving the tricolor. Families of youths who have strayed from the path of terrorism are also showing their patriotism by waving the tricolor. This is Kashmir which could not have been imagined till a few years back. However, change is the only constant. This change for Kashmir happened only after the abrogation of Article 370 three years ago.
However, there is also a different, frightening picture. In the second picture, Kashmir is painted red – in the color of blood. In this Kashmir, terrorists target Kashmiri Pandits every day. This is the Kashmir where the families of Kashmiri Pandits live in panic. This is the Kashmir that reminds us of the terrible period of 1990.
In today’s DNA, Zee News’ Rohit Ranjan analyzes the targeted killings of members of the Pandit community in Kashmir.
A similar targeted killing took place on Tuesday as well. Terrorists attacked two Kashmiri Pandit brothers. One brother died on the spot, while the other was seriously injured. The name of the Kashmiri Pandit who died was Sunil Kumar Bhatt. His brother Partimber Nath, who survived the attack, has been admitted to the hospital. He was shot thrice by terrorists.
Earlier, the families of two Hindu brothers targeted by terrorists were also provided security by the government. However, this protection was limited to his residence only. The terrorists knew this. Hence, he attacked both the Kashmiri Pandit brothers while they were working in their apple orchard.
As usual, the terrorists first asked the names of the two brothers. They opened fire only after both of them were confirmed to be Hindus. The incident was carried out by two terrorists armed with AK-47 rifles. And then like every time, this time also the terrorists easily escaped.
The team of Zee News has prepared an “on the spot investigation report” of the incident. The report contains evidence of murder and raises many questions on the system.
