The team recovered the dog safely
Chasing squirrels and small animals has long been a favorite pastime of many dogs. However, a dog got more than he bargained for when he got stuck in a tree after an endless chase of a squirrel last week. The amusing incident came to light in the US state of Idaho, where firefighters had to be called in to bring the dog down.
In an Instagram post, the Caldwell Fire Department shared photos of a trapped Pit Bull-Husky mix named Izzy High Up on the Treetop.

In the photos, members of the city’s fire department can be seen climbing a ladder to extricate the dog from the branch resting on the top of the tree. The dog was safely evacuated by the crew and given food.
The post was captioned as, ”Well, definitely not a cat up a tree. Caldwell Fire and Caldwell Police responded this afternoon to a dog stuck in a tree. After much effort, the dog was safely brought to the ground. Perhaps, next time he will not be so determined to chase the squirrels.
The dog’s owner, Christina Danner, explained, “He was running after the litter. He didn’t learn his lesson. He was trying to get out and get that squirrel all morning.”

“Often there’s no quicker way to get a dog’s attention than a squirrel sneaking across the yard. Lots of dogs love squirrels, birds, rabbits, and other small critters. Make sure to check out the backyard for their presence. Patrolling is a favorite pastime. In fact, the small animal AKC states on its website that it is one of the most difficult training distractions.
