Mumbai [India],

The Ministry of Development of the North-East region said on Thursday that the objective of the meetings held on April 30 was to promote investment before the upcoming “Rising Northeast Summit 2025” in the North Eastern Region, which was scheduled to take place in India Mandapam on 23-24 May in New Delhi.

A statement by MNISTRY said, “The Union Minister held meetings in Mumbai on Wednesday (April 30, 2025) in Mumbai, including Mukesh Ambani (Reliance Industries), Kumar Mangalam Birla (Aditya Birla Group), and N. Chandrasekharan (Tata Sans) with prominent industrialists.

Industrialists expressed interest in searching opportunities in the Northeast.

Sindia highlighted the government’s strategic plan to develop the Northeast as the new development engine of India.

“The target is to integrate eight states to an integrated development target as India’s development engine,” he said during the conversation.

He emphasized the importance of public-private participation in bringing sustainable development in the region.

The minister also talked about several initiatives made by MDONER, including the construction of a high-level task force with the Chief Ministers of all eight North Eastern states and the establishment of investment promotion agencies (IPAs) in each state to facilitate private sector investment.

Dharmveer Jha, the statistical advisor of the Ministry of Donator, also gave a presentation to the leaders of the industry. He outlined various investment opportunities available in the Northeast, focusing on field-specific areas such as agricultural-based industries, textiles and tourism.

Meetings in Mumbai are part of a major attempt to move ahead of the growing Northeast Summit 2025. The summit will bring investors, policy makers and key stakeholders together to unlock the economic capacity of the sector.

With increasing interest from major industrial homes, the government hopes that the North Eastern will emerge as a major destination for investment in the near future. (AI)
