DPT will develop two more oil jetties at Kandla. Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: The Deendayal Port Confidence (dpt) in Kandla, Kutch, on Saturday announced that it will develop two more oil jetties to meet the import demand in the country. The port is currently handling six oil jetties with a capacity of 12 MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum).
As per the DPT, the two new jetties will handle vessels of larger size up to 65,000 DWT (Dead Wet Tonnage) and 80,000 DWT respectively with a depth of 13 meters. This will increase the port capacity to 5.5 MMTPA and reduce the waiting period of the vessel.
The DPT said that Jetty No. Will be operational by 7th September while Jetty no. 8 was expected to be operational by April next year. DPT, the country’s largest liquid handling port, handles bulk liquids including petroleum products, petrochemicals, acids, liquefied gases and vegetable oils.
