Drama, ‘Unjust Matters’ brings love and relationships to the center stage

What happens when a married couple gets into a rut and the problematic issues between them are swept under the carpet. play, unjust cases deals with just such a couple whose daily hustle and bustle leaves them little time for each other.

unjust cases Centers on five days in the life of an urban couple in a tense relationship. Actor-director Varun Gyanchandani, founder of Home Productions, says, “Due to an hour-long power cut every evening, the two change their routine and have dinner together after many years.” Their bond grows stronger as the couple get to know each other better through the games, but events unfold differently with a conversation on love and relationships.

The 53-minute play has been adapted by Varun and Snigdha Bawa from a story by Jhumpa Lahiri. Temporary, Varun and Snigdha play the role of husband and wife respectively. “With only two characters, it was important to have the right balance. There were some tricky parts but we had to ensure that the story didn’t veer to one side,” says Varun, adding that multiple runs and reviews by friends helped him analyze his play objectively.

When it was first staged in September, unjust cases Received positive response from the audience. “That encouragement and appreciation has given us the confidence to stage it a second time.”

IT Engineer Varun’s passion for theater started during his college days in Bhopal. Based in Hyderabad since 2014, Varun has acted in and directed plays in about 40 plays Toba Tek Singh, Flock Flock Tik Tok, 12 Angry Jury Members And Oh God. A self-taught actor and director, Varun says, “I have honed my skills of reading and writing and as an actor, playing different characters on stage helps me understand and understand layers. Nobody’s perfect and I’m learning every day.”

Varun is looking forward to his next production ganga-chilli on stage.
