Duleep Trophy: Mandeep appointed captain of North Zone, Tiwary to lead East

New Delhi: Punjab’s flamboyant top-order batsman Mandeep Singh was on Thursday appointed as the captain of the North Zone side for the upcoming Duleep Trophy.

This tournament is to be played in Tamil Nadu from 8-25 September.

Delhi’s veteran batsman Dhruv Shorey will be Mandeep’s deputy at the premier zonal event.

Bengal’s experienced run-machine Manoj Tiwary will lead the East Zone team, and will be assisted by Jharkhand’s Virat Singh.

Meanwhile, the elderly India Fast bowler Ishant Sharma has made himself available for the Ranji Trophy.

Among others, North Zone side India pacer Navdeep Saini, Punjab pacer Siddharth Kaul and India U-19 side. World Cup winning Delhi captain Yash Dhul.
