Home favorites Neroca FC were drawn to a goalless draw with the Army Red Football Team (ARFT) in their second Group C game in the Durand Cup at the Khuman Lumpak Stadium here on Wednesday.

Neroca came into the game as the strong favorites after beating local rivals TRAU FC 3-1. However, a good defensive act by the ARFT footballers did not give the Neroca side a chance to register their second consecutive win in the tournament.

Neroca showed more keenness in the first half, but failed to create any worthwhile opportunities thanks to Senna’s defenders who deftly defended.
As the first half ended goalless, it was Neroca who started the second half hard but squandered opportunities to open the scoring. Neroca’s Michael Lunminlal Kipgen showcased some great individual work and scored a half chance at the hour mark, but was ultimately off-target.
Four minutes later, Lunminal was at it again as he delivered a cross with pin-point accuracy to young forward Thomaio Shimre, who attempted a side-volley but missed the scoring.

Senna’s side had a chance to break the deadlock with three minutes remaining on the clock, as substitute Pradeep Kumar, removed a left foot from 20 yards, but was denied by Neroca custodian Sonal Porei, who was awarded man of the order. The match was awarded.
