Surat: In a major drive to stop the smuggling of liquor in the city and district limits of Surat, State Monitoring Cell ,SMCThe organization working under the direct supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP) conducted six raids in a span of 12 hours on Tuesday. The series of raids created a shock wave in the wine world here and the illegal liquor trade came to a standstill.
Senior officials claimed that his team would not leave the city until bootlegging was completely stopped. Police seized 1,764 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 188 liters of country liquor (total value Rs 1.88 lakh) and cash worth Rs 1 lakh during the raid.
Out of the six raids, two were done in the limits of Singanpur police station area, two raids were done in the limits of Kamrej police station, raids were conducted under one raid. Poona One police station and one raid were conducted in Surat Railway station area.
Three people were caught with 844 bottles of IMFL in Kamarej. From the Poona raid, 618 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 55,505 were recovered and three people were arrested. In a raid in Singanpur, four women were arrested from a country brewery.

Their teams have been keeping an eye on the areas where there is a network of bootleggers since the early hours of Tuesday.
