During this financial year about 22,000 freshers were recruited by HCL Tech.

Several tech companies have expressed plans to add more employees in the January-March quarter of 2022. Starting with HCL Technologies Limited, who have decided to aggressively hire more than 20,000-22,000 freshers in this financial year.

Citing a filing by HCL Technologies, Livemint reported that the decision came after demand for technology services outpaced supply. This has accelerated hiring, as it had a net addition of 10,143 during the quarter, taking the total workforce to 197,777.

HCL Technologies is not the only IT giant to take this step, TCS, Infosys, Wipro have hired over 1 lakh employees during this FY and announced to continue their hiring drive in FY 2022. Announcing their Q3 results, TCS, Infosys and Wipro revealed that they hired a record 1.7 lakh employees last year. This major spike comes as India is slowly moving towards digital amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Announcing its results for the December 2021 quarter, Infosys said that as part of the company’s global gratitude programme, it will hire 55,000 freshers in FY22 to support its growth ambitions.

Wipro, on the other hand, has set a target of hiring 30,000 freshers in FY2023 as the IT major wants to ensure that supply is not a hindrance in managing strong market demand. For FY2022, the company is looking to hire around 17,500.

While TCS has not announced any specific hiring numbers for freshers, the tech giant has made it clear that it will continue with its aggressive hiring drive. Chief human resource officer, Milind Lakkar, said, “The intensity of outbound recruitment will continue, but we do not have any specific numbers for the coming quarter.” India’s largest software exporter recently touched the milestone of 2,00,000 workforce.
