KSNDMC says community need not panic as intensity was low and not destructive
Two earthquakes of magnitude 2.9 and 3.0 were recorded at Chikkaballapura on December 22 by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC).
The Centre’s analysis revealed that an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 was recorded in Mandikal gram panchayat, followed by an earthquake of magnitude 3.0 in Bhogaparthi village of Adagallu gram panchayat.
“As per the earthquake intensity map from the epicenter, the observed intensity is low and the tremors can be felt up to a maximum radial distance of 15 km. These types of earthquakes do not cause any damage to the local community, although minor tremors may occur at the local level. The community need not panic as the intensity observed is low and not destructive,” according to KSNDMC.
