‘Revive KCR procurement centers and start the process for farmers’
Former minister Eatala Rajender urged the TRS government to start paddy procurement immediately by opening centers across Telangana and allay the concerns of farmers keeping “political grandeur” aside.
“All the southern states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka have started the procurement process and paddy is ready to be harvested, but the government here has not taken any decision yet. is it fair? Is this how the government runs?” he asked at a press conference at the party office on Friday.
‘The problem of abundance’
The BJP leader said this is perhaps for the first time that farmers are facing a crisis not because of drought but because of adequate water and power supply, as the government is claiming, “The Center is ready for it. Buy raw rice and instead of continuing to politicize the issue, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao should revive the procurement centers and start the process for farmers,” he said.
Comparing KCR with the Roman emperor Nero, Mr Rajender said the government has not taken a single step towards procuring paddy when the crop is ripe for harvesting, indicating a ‘brutal’ mentality. “The chief minister had earlier announced that one crore acres would be cultivated and irrigation projects would be built at a huge cost so that farmers could grow any crop and buy every grain. Free electricity, Rythu brothers and others were meant to encourage agriculture, but what is happening now?”
‘KCR’s preparation’
The current crisis is purely “KCR’s creation” as once he had warned farmers against paddy cultivation last year and it led to crop growth in just 30 lakh acres this season, he said, and suggested that if The government spends around ₹700 crore, when ₹30,000 crore is the agriculture budget outlay, to upgrade the machinery for milling raw rice.
“Boiled rice can also be sold or exported for use in industries as the price difference is just ₹10, but this CM has neither the foresight nor the foresight to respond to the rice millers’ demand for subsidy. have shown interest in KCR’s cynical policies based on his views have led to this sad scenario and now, he wants to lay the blame on the Centre,” he alleged.
“The least that the chief minister can do is negotiate with the Center for money or purchase of boiled rice instead of rattling kirpans this season,” he said.
Dubak MLA M. Raghunandan Rao, in a separate press briefing, has accused the police of playing a partisan role in not stopping TRS workers from disrupting their official program on Thursday. Mr Rao also alleged that the police had not arrested those who broke the foundation stone of a new market, which was destroying public property.
“If the police thinks they want to act like this, then there is no need for any protection from me. I challenge anyone to debate my work in the constituency and demand an inquiry into the incident.
