A 2009 batch IAS officer, Vishnoi is an alumnus of IIT-Kanpur. He was questioned by the ED after searching his premises in Raipur.
After his arrest on Thursday, his wife Preeti Vishnoi and other family members met CM Bhupesh Baghel and alleged that ED officials threatened to ruin his career. She said that her husband has liver disease, high blood pressure and migraine, yet he was not even given food and water for a long time.
Baghel launched a scathing attack on the central agencies asking why the ED has not yet disclosed the details of the seizures made during searches. “They should have disclosed from whom they have seized cash, property and other items during the raids. Selective leaks and handing over of it to sources are for defamatory purposes,” Baghel said.
On the same day Raigad District Collector Ranu Sahu, whose official residence was involved in searches by the ED, wrote to the agency after being incommunicado for two days. The three others arrested by the ED were identified as Raipur-based businessman Sunil Agarwal, Navneet Tiwari and lawyer Laxmikant Tiwari – all close associates or relatives of businessman Suryakant Tiwari, who was earlier questioned by the ED and IT. was raised.
