ED issues fresh summons to family members of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law Maneka Gambhir has been issued fresh summons by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the ongoing money laundering case, after it was found that the agency had “mistakenly” issued her a notice to appear at 12 noon: Official sources said that instead of 12:30 pm on Monday, 30 pm.

Gambhir was summoned by agency officials at the Kolkata airport on September 10 to appear at the ED office here on Monday at “12:30 am” after he was denied foreign travel due to his involvement in the alleged coal scam probe. was.

Sources said the midnight time printed on the earlier summons was a ‘typographical error’ and it should have been ’12:30 am’ on September 12.

She reached the ED office in the Salt Lake area around the time specified on the summons, but as it was inadvertently issued a wrong date, she found the office closed and returned after taking some photographs, according to sources.

He said Gambhir has been summoned again to appear before the agency at around 2 pm.

The ED has not yet questioned Gambhir in this case. The CBI had earlier questioned him in the said case.

Gambhir gave the challenge Ed The summons had asked him to appear before him in Delhi on September 5 in connection with the alleged coal scam case and sought a court direction to the agency to allow him to appear before it in Kolkata, where he claimed that she lives.

The Calcutta High Court in August directed the ED to interrogate Gambhir at its regional office in Kolkata and not in Delhi and not take coercive steps against him till the next date of hearing.

ED questioned Abhishek BanerjeeWest Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and his wife Rujira are also involved in the case earlier.

The matter is being investigated under ED Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Anup Majhi is believed to be the kingpin of a money laundering case related to coal mining thefts related to the mines of Eastern Coalfield Limited at Kunustoria and Kajora in and around Asansol in West Bengal.
