Varsha Raut said that she will not leave Shiv Sena and will continue to support Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
She appeared before the central agency on Saturday morning in connection with a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of Patra Chawl, an old row house in suburban Goregaon.
The central agency had issued summons to Varsha Raut earlier this week. Accordingly, she reached the ED office at Ballard Estate, South Mumbai at 10.40 am.
Sources had said that she is expected to face her husband Sanjay, who is presently in ED custody and some other accused involved in the case.
A large number of policemen were deployed outside the ED office.
The ED had arrested Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut on August 1 in this case. A local court on Thursday sent him to further custody till August 8.
The ED had earlier told the court that Sanjay Raut and his family had received “crime proceeds” of over Rs 1 crore arising out of alleged irregularities in the housing redevelopment project.
The ED, as part of its probe in April, had provisionally attached assets worth over Rs 11.15 crore of two associates of Varsha Raut and Sanjay Raut.
