Delhi Deputy CM says Devendra Sharma was ‘arrested’ and BJP was behind it

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday questioned Devendra Sharma, the personal assistant of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, in connection with a money laundering probe into alleged irregularities in the implementation of Delhi’s Excise Policy 2021-22.

The central probe agency also questioned three others in connection with the case and conducted searches at five places in and around the capital.

“No arrests have been made. Prima facie Suspicions of destruction of evidence are also being investigated.

Meanwhile, Mr Sisodia, in a tweet in Hindi, said that the probe agency has registered a “false” case against him and raided his PA’s house. He said Mr Sharma was “arrested” and the BJP was behind it. “They raided my house by registering a false FIR, searched my bank lockers, checked in my village, but found nothing against me. Today they raided my PA’s house with ED. But after finding nothing there, they have arrested him. BJP people! So much fear of losing the election,” he tweeted.

The agency has conducted several raids in the matter. In September, it arrested Sameer Mahandru, managing director of Indospirit Group.

Last month, the Central Bureau of Investigation questioned Mr Sisodia, one of the 15 accused named by the agency in its FIR filed on August 17, alleging irregularities in the now defunct policy.
