After the announcement of the Himachal election schedule, the floods in Gujarat prompted the Election Commission to hold elections in the state.
According to the Election Commission website, assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh were held simultaneously in at least 1998, 2007 and 2012.
The term of the 182-member Gujarat Assembly ends on February 18, 2023.
