Elon Musk said that Starlink service is now active in Ukraine.
Washington, United States of America:
Elon Musk said on Saturday that his company SpaceX’s Starlink satellite broadband service had been activated in Ukraine after a Kiev official urged the tech titan to provide his beleaguered country with stations.
“Starlink service is now active in Ukraine,” Musk tweeted.
The tweet came some 10 hours after Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, urged Musk to provide Starlink services to Ukraine, days after it was invaded by neighboring Russia.
“When you try to colonize Mars – Russia tries to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully descend from space – Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civilian people! We’re going to provide you with the Starlink station to Ukraine.” Says for,” Fedorov tweeted at Musk.
He also called on the billionaire to “address sensible Russians to stand up” against the invasion of his government.
Internet monitor Netblox said Ukraine has seen “a series of significant disruptions to Internet service” since Thursday, when Russia launched a military operation in the country.
Starlink operates a group of over 2,000 satellites that aim to provide Internet access across the planet.
The company on Friday launched another 50 Starlink satellites and many more are to be placed in Earth orbit.
