Elvis Week: Thousands gather by candlelight held at Graceland – Henry’s Club

Memphis, Tenn. (WMC) — In an annual tribute to the king of rock and roll, fans gathered at Graceland Monday night for the annual candlelight ceremony.

The Gates of Graceland opened at 8:30 p.m., allowing fans to walk up to Elvis’ graveyard and back in quiet remembrance.

The gates should remain open so that anyone who wants to pay tribute gets a chance.

“It’s the culmination of it, though… it’s an honor for Elvis,” said fan Suzanne Burlu. “He’s always been in my life and in my heart, it’s like I know him.”

“It’s so cool and everyone comes out and shows their love for Elvis,” said Debbie Howard, another enthusiast. “I just love his music. I love his generosity, and his love for his fellow humans.”

Fans from all over the world flocked to the Rock and Roll house to pay tribute to Elvis and his musical legacy.

“We have people from England, Japan, every state… and we’re only here because of Elvis Presley,” Burlu said.

“You don’t know them when you get here, but you leave as friends, and that means a lot,” Howard said.
