NEW DELHI: Stressing on the need to train police forces in such a way that they learn to use modern equipment and still ignore basic policing, Home Minister Amit Shah On Tuesday, various Central Police Training Institutes were asked to ensure best utilization of overall training capabilities while keeping 60% training for all police personnel and only the remaining 40%, specific to various police forces.
Shah, while presiding over a review meeting with the Central Police Training Institutes (CPTIs) here, emphasized on a holistic approach to the training of constables, sub-inspectors and police personnel. DSP level, as required under mission karmayogi Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, The meeting was attended by representatives of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy; Central Police Training Academy, Bhopal; CRPF Academy; BSF Academy; ITBP Academy; National Academy of Industrial Safety; North East Police Academy; NSG, SSB and NDRF.
Stating that police training should change with the times, Shah emphasized both strictness and sensitivity in training. He said that along with modern technologies, there is a need to inculcate a sense of patriotism, fitness, discipline, sensitivity and self-surrender in the police forces. Shah also stressed on the need to review the impact of online training for police personnel at all levels.
During the meeting, presentations were made by CPTI emphasizing on the importance of right training at the right time to build the capabilities of the police personnel. This will ensure quick and effective response to the ever-changing nature of security challenges. The relative merits of hybrid learning and emerging training paradigms, training methodologies and techniques were discussed, including the importance of training need analysis (TNA), productivity of training resources and evaluation of trainers’ development.
