Jos Buttler started the T20 World Cup with his maiden T20I century, helping England register their fourth consecutive win in the tournament. The Englishman produced a batting masterclass in Sharjah by smashing an unbeaten 101 off just 67 balls against Sri Lanka in Sharjah on Monday. Buttler reached the landmark by hitting a six off the last ball against Dushmantha Chameera. England won the match by 26 runs, and are now all confident of a place in the semi-finals. England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is not part of the squad for the T20 World Cup, took to Twitter to salute his teammate.
Stokes gave the final praise, calling Butler “the best in the world”.
best in the world @josbuttler

While many fans tweeted in agreement with Stokes, others were not as convinced.

Buttler is ahead of Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nisanka with 214 runs in this year’s tournament, who has scored a total of 170 runs.
The Englishman was in fine form against Australia, hitting a 32-ball 71 as England fleshed out their arch-rivals last week.
And while the England opener was not as destructive against Sri Lanka, his knock was more significant than that of the Aussies.
Coming to bat, England’s team was playing 35 runs for three wickets. Buttler and captain Eoin Morgan added 112 runs for the fourth wicket to bowl out England.

Buttler made a slow start but in the second half of his innings he stepped on the accelerator and smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers in all parts of Sharjah.
England are at the top of the Group 1 points table with eight points from four matches.
