According to details accessed exclusively by TOI on earlier CUCET 2022, which has been finalized by the Ministry of Education (MoE), the entrance exam for integrated masters, undergraduate, diploma and certificate programs of 42 central universities will consist of three sections , which includes language tests, 27 domain specific tests and a general aptitude test.
According to MoE sources, the University Grants Commission (UGC) may announce the detailed structure of the exam and eligibility criteria by next week, after which the National Testing Agency (NTA) will notify the registration process and exam dates for 2022. -23 academic session.
The exam will be computer based and will have three sections – Section A (Language Test), Section B (Domain Specific Test) and Section C, which is optional, a common test for Vocational/Open Eligibility/Cross Stream Examination. For Section A, which is a compulsory test for all candidates, a candidate will have to appear in any one of the 13 languages which include English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia. Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
This is followed by section B where the exam will offer 27 subjects out of which a candidate is allowed to take a maximum of six domains, which he/she wishes to pursue at the undergraduate level. Subjects include Accountancy, Biology, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Knowledge Tradition – Practices of India, Physics, Teaching Aptitude, Agriculture, Fine Arts and Performing Arts, among others.
“Section A is compulsory for all the candidates. He has to choose a paper. In Section B a candidate can appear for the course he/she wants to pursue at the graduation level. A candidate can appear for six domain tests. Also there are universities/higher education institutions that can offer courses that do not require the candidate to study subjects in school. A senior education ministry official said that the domain specific test will indicate whether the candidate has aptitude for the subject or not.
Optional Section C is divided into two subsections – General Test and Language Test. Sub-section 1 will be a general aptitude test, while sub-section 2 will be a language test where 19 languages are being offered including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Nepali, Persian, Russian, Spanish, Tibetan, Bodo Are included. , Dogri, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali and Sindhi. “Section C is optional as there are many programs in universities in which only general qualifying marks will be required.
