Entrepreneur narrates the excruciating agony of trying to build a vacant house to tenant in Mumbai

March 6, 2022

The tenant has threatened the landlords of making political connections.

Priyanka Sehgal, the founder of Sparkles dating app, explained in a Twitter thread how a man is refusing to pay rent or vacate his house citing political ties.

After all attempts by a tenant to vacate his property in Mumbai failed, an entrepreneur took to Twitter to narrate his ordeal. Priyanka Sehgal, founder of Sparkles dating app, told how the tenant has been harassing her elderly father since August last year and refusing to vacate the premises. They have tried all measures including filing a complaint with the police. However, the tenant has still refused to budge and has threatened that he has political ties. Read the thread here:

“Just got off the phone and found out that the tenant in Mumbai is lying and has harassed my dad. He is lying to the society and is not paying the electricity bill or rent. He got the meter installed again. refused to vacate.”

“All legal action has been taken. His checks are bouncing. It’s just exhausting and scary that someone can be so evil. And by telling lies has taken the society in its grip. @LODHA It may not be in your jurisdiction, but you can certainly help a house owner, provided you still manage the NCP.”

“He is lying and has given in writing that he will be vacated. All the checks bounced. We complained to the police and filed a criminal complaint. He didn’t show up and said it was a civil matter. Electricity bills are increasing, so the rent is also increasing. Said he would be vacated in December.”

“The society also told him that he is saying that GE has paid the rent but all the checks bounced. My father is wandering from door to door. The power was cut but they went and got a new meter installed. How’s this @myBESTElectric?”

“The police have not helped even after registering a complaint. The man is intimidated by political connections and believes he can stake a claim to the House. Not sure why a senior citizen has to suffer so much financial loss and the fear of losing his house.”

Sehgal wrote that the tenant claims to be the MD of Eldorado Goldcorp, but has no money to pay the rent or electricity bills.
