EPFO plans to invest 5% of annual deposits in InvITs, alternative funds

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) in its Central Board of Trustees (CBT) meeting has approved measures to invest up to 5 per cent of its annual deposits in infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) and other alternative funds.

The CBT empowered the Finance Investment and Audit Committee (FIAC) to decide on investment options on a case-by-case basis for investment in asset classes included in the pattern of investment notified by the Centre. The investment limit in alternative investments including credible public InvITs is 5 per cent of the annual deposit amount.

The EPFO ​​Central Board of Trustees also approved development of a centralized IT-enabled system by C-DAC to transfer field functionalities to the central database in a phased manner.
