AIADMK interim general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Friday that the party’s candidates Erode (East) Assembly Constituency By-Election Will be announced soon.
Mr Palaniswami made the announcement after holding a consultation meeting with the 117-member election committee, senior party leaders, legislators and office-bearers at a wedding hall in Erode. Responding to a question from reporters about the candidate, he said, “It will be announced soon.” He refused to divulge more details and left the hall.
Earlier, addressing the party functionaries, Mr. Palaniswami said that this election was not new to him as the AIADMK had contested several elections and won with huge votes. The party had seen challenges many times and was also successful. “Some traitors are trying to split the party and have joined forces with our enemies and are involved in anti-AIADMK activities. The election result should teach them a lesson,” he added in reference to ousted party coordinator O Panneerselvam.
According to Mr. Palaniswami, the entire country was anxious to see who would win the bypolls; He asked the party workers to work hard so that the party could register a historic victory.
Mr Palaniswami asked the party cadre to distribute pamphlets detailing the schemes implemented by the AIADMK government for the people in the constituency and to highlight the problems voters are facing due to the present DMK government. “Our schemes have benefited the people of the constituency and we can seek votes without any fear,” he said.
