Escorts, Vodafone Idea among shares under F&O ban on NSE today

Two shares have been banned for trading on Friday, December 17, 2021, under the Futures and Options segment by the National Stock Exchange (NSE). According to NSE, securities have been banned under the F&O segment as they have crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL).

The two stocks are Escorts and Vodafone Idea which have been placed under restriction for trading on Friday, December 17, 2021, under the Futures and Options segment by the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

NSE said the derivative contracts in the mentioned securities have crossed 95% of the market-wide position limits and are currently placed under restriction period. “It is hereby informed that all clients/members shall trade in derivative contracts of the said security to reduce their positions only by way of offsetting positions. Any increase in open positions will attract appropriate penalty and disciplinary action, NSE said.

The market-wide position limit or MWPL is a limit that defines the maximum number of unsettled options contracts for a given derivative stock. Currently, the MWPL for Indian derivatives stocks is 95%. No fresh positions are allowed for any F&O contract in that particular stock under the F&O restriction period.
