Actor Suriya Shivakumar has reached out to students troubled by the issue of appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), a mandatory entrance test for medical admission. In the 1.54-minute video in Tamil, the actor recalled his “shameful low marks in the exam” as he made an emotional appeal to the students not to end their lives. The actor’s appeal comes amid three suicides in the past one week by students over the fear of failing the entrance exam.
“I can say as one of you that marks and exams alone do not make a life. There are so many things to achieve. Be courageous and confident. Many of us who love and understand you May we all win big here. Life. Have no fear,” he said.
Emphasizing that “the pain and difficulty soon go away”, Surya Appealed to students to “speak everything with someone they trust and love: a parent, elder, friend or teacher”.
