Exclusive: Simple Energy, C4V’s new Indian Li-ion battery ecosystem to aid global leadership plans – Times of India

Bengaluru based electric two-wheeler manufacturer simple energy Lithium-ion battery technology company has signed a memorandum of understanding with c4v To establish a lithium-ion cell manufacturing ecosystem here in India. This partnership is perhaps a strategic step in Simple Energy’s plans to become the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world. EV The manufacturer is currently targeting to sell 100,000 units of its simple one E-scooters in FY23.

On its latest partnership with C4V, Shrestha Mishra, Co-Founder, Simple Energy says, “The idea behind the partnership is to merge two indigenous technology, research and development based companies. We aim to develop and manufacture products in India. Our intention of working together is to go against other manufacturers who are parachuting products from other countries and selling them here in India.

Mishra also said that C4V and Simple Energy are confident that the products developed here in India will be better suited to our conditions. They also claimed that the partnership will help them deliver better performance, vehicle range and safety in their battery packs that will be used in various form factors.

Citing the recent incidents of fires in electric scooters, Mishra said that apart from reducing cost, developing the SAIL technology completely in-house would allow both the companies to work on the scarce materials used in the existing SAIL technologies. It will help in reducing dependency. The new cells will be developed keeping in mind the Indian standards and will help in developing the right technology which will be more efficient and less prone to catch fire.
Simple Energy’s current plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu has a capacity to produce 200,000 units per annum, which can be further expanded to 1 million units. However, the lithium-ion cell development and manufacturing ecosystem will be set up at the company’s second plant spread over 600 acres in Dharmapuri. The facility, once completed, will have a total installed capacity of 12.5 million units per annum.
