The Toyota Urban Cruiser was crash tested for frontal offset by Global NCAP.

Ever since Toyota and Maruti Suzuki have agreed to share the model in India, we had many questions in our mind. How different will they look, what all the feature differences will they have, how will the performance and dynamics be, etc. We found all these answers when we looked at the cars and drove them, but there was one very important question that remained unsolved! ‘How safe will Toyota cars be from Maruti?’ Well! Global NCAP has tested the Toyota Urban Cruiser for a frontal offset crash test at a top speed of 64 kmph and the subcompact SUV scored a respectable 4-star rating for the safety of adult passengers with a score of 13.52 out of 17, While it has secured 3-star for child safety. With 36.68 marks out of 49. Carandbike reached out to Toyota India for comment on the safety score and will update this piece when the company responds.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser received a respectable 4-star rating for adult passenger safety and a 3-star rating for child occupant safety.

Yes! The result is on par with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which got the same rating during crash tests in September 2018. And it got 12.51 points for the adult occupant and 17.93 for the safety of the child occupant. Given that this is a Toyota, we expected it to make some changes to the car for better safety and that of course delivered. The car’s bodyshell was rated stable. Having said that, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 still hold the top position with full 5-star crash test ratings.
