Explore adventure tourism amidst nature’s gift at Kondaveedu Fort in Palnadu district

In an effort to attract tourists to the Kondaveedu Fort, the forest department has launched one-night-one-day adventure tourism packages, which include trekking, rock climbing, archery, rappelling, camping, team building activities and yoga. Nature.

“Thrilling programs and activities have been arranged as a part of the adventure tourism package and a trial run has also been conducted under the supervision of Palnadu District Collector Siva Shankar Lotheti. The Forest Department has made ten tents of four members each and eight toilets. At least ten members would be ideal to conduct a tour,” said Palanadu divisional forest officer Ramachandra Rao N. Giving details about the facilities available, he said that apart from regular power connectivity, solar power units have been set up. A ghat road has been built in about 7.5 km, besides a trekking route of over 2 km, a walking track of 2 km and 800 steps to climb the hill. An approach is being set up and it will be ready within days. Shelters, tents, washrooms, drinking water and other facilities have been set up.

The entire fort is under CCTV surveillance. There are three major ponds including Vedulla Cheruvu (Bamboo Pond). Sri Ramachandra Rao said that a deck has been constructed around Vedulla Cheruvu, where tourists can spend time with nature.

“As part of the adventure package, facilities for archery, rock climbing, rappelling, tent camping and trekking have been arranged. Tourists can book packages – from 6 pm till 10 am the next day – which include night trekking and rock climbing. Tourists will be served breakfast, evening snack and dinner. The tariff for adults is ₹2,000 and ₹1,000 for children in the age group of 6 to 14 years,” said the DFO.

He said that the Forest Department has contracted Outrevel Adventures which will organize adventure programs. D. Asha of Outrival Adventures is a mountaineer from Guntur. He said that the adventure program would be guided by experts under the supervision of the Forest Department.

Mr. Lotheti said that solo campers will also be encouraged. “Based on the feedback from the tourists, the facilities at the fort will be improved in a phased manner,” he said.
