Commerce ministry data shows imports rose 51.72 percent to $47.09 billion during the month
India’s exports grew by 45.76 per cent to $33.28 billion in August from $22.83 billion in the same month last year, according to data released by the commerce ministry on Tuesday.
Imports during the month increased by 51.72 per cent to $47.09 billion.
The trade deficit widened to $13.81 billion in August from $8.2 billion in the same month last year.
The cumulative value of exports for the April-August 2021 period increased by 67.33% to $164.10 billion, from $98.06 billion in the year-ago period.
During April-August 2021, imports stood at $219.63 billion as against $121.42 billion.
