Eyes on Bengal Panchayat elections, Mamata sets up task force for speedy redressal of ‘Didir Doot’ public grievances

Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee Had a meeting with all the department secretaries of the state on Monday before the panchayat elections.

The ruling Trinamool Congress in January launched a program called “Didir Doot” aimed at reaching out to common people with direct dialogue between leaders and issues. Sources said that a month after the launch of the programme, the TMC party received public feedback on the complaints, and the government is taking action to address the complaints.

What measures have been taken by the administration?

Chief Minister Banerjee has constituted a task force involving all departments to address the grievances raised by common people in the “Deedir Doot” initiative. The administration has been instructed to call them and find out if their problem has been resolved.

The Mamata Banerjee-led government is giving priority to the resolution of public grievances ahead of the West Bengal Panchayat and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sources in the administration reveal that solving the problems of the people is now the main focus of the Bengal government.

According to experts, the success of the “Didi ke Bolo” initiative in serving the people had a good impact after 2019, resolving the problems and grievances of the TMC government. The formation of “Didir Doot” is the result of this success.

From ‘Didi Ke Balo’, ‘Duare Sarkar’ (Government at the Door) to ‘Didir Doot’, these initiatives have been largely public-oriented. Experts believe that the recently constituted task force will deal with all such issues and if it is resolved, TMC will get an advantage in the upcoming panchayat elections.

Panchayat elections are expected to be held by April-May this year.
