Fake news alert! JEE Mains 2023 notification circulating on social media is fake

The fact-checking department of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has declared the JEE Main 2023 application date of November 17 which is currently circulating on social media to be fake.

The notice going viral on social media states that applications for JEE Mains 2023 will be held from November 16 to December 31. Also said that the exam will be held in two shifts. The exam date for the first session is January 18-23 while the second session exam will start from April 4-9.

Clarifying in a tweet, PIB Fact Check wrote, A notice is circulating on social media claiming that NTA has invited applications for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) for the session 2023 I #PIBFactCheck. This notice is fake. For authentic information please visit official website – http://nta.ac.in

PIB had formed a fact checking unit to identify fake news related to the government and its policies circulating on various social media platforms. The Fact Check Unit monitors platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to flag fake news.

Meanwhile, the NTA is likely to provide the registration date for JEE Mains 2023 soon, most likely by the end of November. Once the dates are announced, the registration-cum-application forms for the engineering exam will be available on the official website of NTA i.e. jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The exam will be conducted in two sessions- January and April. And as per the rules, the rank will be calculated according to the marks obtained by the candidates in either of the two sessions.
