Manchester City forward Ferran Torres has reportedly passed a Barcelona medical ahead of his £55million switch to the club after the transfer window opened in January. After the forced retirement of Sergio Aguero, Torres is seen as Barcelona’s top target.
The 21-year-old Spanish forward arrived in Barcelona on Monday for a medical as his transfer from Manchester City came a step closer. Man City only signed Torres from Valencia in the summer of 2020, but he attracted the interest of Barcelona and their new manager Xavi, who picked him as their priority for the January window.
“Both clubs have agreed an initial fee of £47.6m to transfer the Spain star as well as a further potential £8.5m in performance-related bonuses when the January window opens; of those additional payments, £ The 6m is supposed to be straight and easy to hit,” the Manchester Evening News reported.
Torres, who had been picked up on international duty since October with a fractured metatarsal, posted a video on social media on Sunday showing himself training in a pitch in Valencia. And on Monday morning, he arrived at a hospital in Barcelona for medical treatment with his new club.
Guardiola has already said City will not sign Torres’ replacement next month. He reiterated that the club knows they need to buy No. 9 to replace Sergio Aguero.
