Fight in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, main accused in police custody: 10 points

Delhi Police has arrested 24 people including a woman and two minors.

New Delhi:

  1. Delhi Police today got custody of main accused Ansar and Aslam In Jahangirpuri clash, Police have started questioning them to find out the reason behind the clash.
  2. Police are waiting for Ansar’s call records to ascertain whether he carried out the clashes or acted on someone’s instructions.
  3. The name of a history-sheeter who allegedly supplied the gun to Aslam has come to the fore in the investigation.
  4. The police arrested the person who opened fire during the assault last night. He lives in C block of Jahangirpuri and will be produced in the court today. Police is trying to take him into their custody.
  5. 20 teams of Crime Branch are reviewing the video footage to nab the accused involved in the clash.
  6. Delhi Police has arrested 24 people including a woman and two minors. Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said that all the accused are being traced. “23 people have been arrested. They belong to both the communities. Action will be taken against anyone found guilty, irrespective of class, creed, community and religion,” he told reporters yesterday.
  7. The police have divided the violence-hit area into five sectors in view of security. One additional Deputy Commissioner level officer has been appointed in these sectors. Heavy police force is deployed in the area.
  8. Police yesterday arrested one of the accused, Sonu Chikna, who was caught firing on camera during Saturday’s clash but was missing since then. There was a stir in the area this morning when the police team looking for Sonu tried to interrogate his family. When the team reached Sonu Chikna’s house, his family and neighbors pelted stones on the team. Additional Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) has been called after the stone pelting incident.
  9. Nine people, including eight police personnel and a civilian, were injured in clashes during Hanuman Jayanti procession.
  10. Police said a case has been registered against members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal for taking out a procession without permission. VHP worker Prem Sharma has been summoned.
