India men’s hockey team FIH Hockey World Cup 2023 (IANS)
The Indian team will begin their campaign against Spain on January 13 at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
FIH Odisha ahead of Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, the Indian men’s hockey team arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Tuesday morning.
The team led by Captain Harmanpreet Singh was accorded a warm welcome here. The team will leave for Rourkela, where it will practice for the World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29.

Talking to media persons upon arrival, captain Harmanpreet said, “We have decided to continue with our strategy of keeping the scoreboard at the start of the match. We don’t know when the World Cup will be held in India again, so our aim is to Give your best in this World Cup.”
Indian hockey team vice-captain Amit Rohidas said that he is very happy as his home state Odisha is hosting the Hockey World Cup for the second time in a row.
He said the team was practicing in Bengaluru for the World Cup and will now practice on the new turf at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela.
“We will surely do very well in the upcoming matches with Spain and England in Rourkela. We have decided to go step by step in this World Cup. Our primary target is to reach the quarterfinals. Then, we will decide on our future course of action,” Rohidas told media persons on Tuesday.
After taking on Spain at the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela, the Indian men’s hockey team will take on England in Rourkela on January 15, before traveling to Bhubaneswar for their final Group D match against Wales on January 19.
