Film festival in memory of Chaturth Sasi on December 22 in Kochi

A film festival will be organized here on December 22 in memory of legendary filmmaker IV Sasi, who redefined commercial Malayalam cinema.

The festival is organized by the Malayalam Cine Technicians’ Association and the FCC 1983 Charitable Trust to mark his fifth death anniversary. The one-day festival titled ‘Ulswam 2022’ will be held at Cinepolis Multiplex in Center Square Mall.

Five selected films of the filmmaker will be screened. The organizers said they are in the process of shortlisting the best five films of the director. A seminar on songs from his films will be organized as part of the programme. Vidhyadharan, Bernie Ignatius, Shibu Chakraborty and BK Harinarayanan will attend the event.

In the afternoon an open forum will be held on the contemporary relevance of IV Shashi’s films. Screenwriter SN Swamy and actor Ramu will participate. Veteran filmmaker-lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi will deliver the memorial lecture in the valedictory session.

Seema, actor and wife of IV Sasi, will attend the festival along with a host of people associated with the Malayalam film industry. The closing ceremony will be followed by a musical evening with songs from his films.
