Governor RN Ravi addresses the 22nd Convocation of Tanuvas

Governor RN Ravi on Wednesday said a model of development, which he called “Darwinian”, created a huge regional and sub-regional imbalance and social tensions, while Prime Minister Modi’s “all-inclusive growth model” created a healthy Ensured the basic elements of citizenship.

Addressing the 22nd Convocation of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas), he described how there were development gaps and sub-regional imbalances in a progressive state like Tamil Nadu.

He called the earlier model of evolution Darwinian because some relatively smart people made an advantage, leaving the rest behind. As a result, even after six and a half decades of independence, India was home to the largest number of poor, sick and illiterate people, he said.

“Prime Minister Modi’s all-inclusive development model is ensuring access to food, housing, health, education, electricity and cooking gas, basic elements of a healthy citizenship, to every citizen without any discrimination,” he said.

The Governor conferred graduation certificates to 204 young graduates and 101 awards to exemplary students for their outstanding performance, congratulating them, their teachers and parents. He said that young graduates should come forward to serve the people and take the responsibility of building a great India. He urged them to go for entrepreneurship and innovation, seize the opportunities and build India as a world leader in the next 25 years.

26 awards to youth

R. Shankar was all eyes at the event as he won 26 awards (25 of them gold medals) and a cash prize for his exceptional academic performance.

A native of Tiruppur, he is the first graduate in his family. Her parents are tailors in a garment company there. He completed B.V.Sc and AH from Tirunelveli Veterinary College in 2020. He was declared topper in 17 subjects. He is studying M.VSc in Veterinary Pharmacology at Kerala University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. “I was admitted under the all India quota of ICAR,” he said. He wants to do research in Tanuvas. “I wanted exposure so I chose Kerala,” said Mr. Shankar.

D. Tamilini won six medals in M. VSc and Ranjani Rajasekharan won four medals in Ph.D. Poovitha and C. Ramani won two medals each in B.Tech (Food Technology) and B.Tech (Poultry Technology) respectively.

Anita R Radhakrishnan, Minister of Fisheries, Fishermen’s Welfare and Animal Husbandry and Pro-Chancellor of the University, announced 12 new endowments in the University to recognize and appreciate the academic excellence of the students.

PK Joshi, Secretary, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, addressed the convocation. Vice Chancellor KN Selvakumar presented the annual report.
