Russia and Ukraine are major global wheat suppliers, and last week in Istanbul they signed a UN brokerage agreement aimed at easing the food crisis and lowering global grain prices that have risen since the Russian invasion.
The purpose of the agreement is to allow safe passage for grain shipments in and out of the port of Kornomorsk, Odessa and Pivdenyny. Moscow blames Ukraine for stopping the shipment by mining the port’s waters.
