Three men were arrested and two juveniles arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a 15-year-old minor in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai. The police gave this information on Monday.
All the accused are involved in prostitution and were arrested on Sunday. Police said they included three men – Sonu, 32, Babu Miyan, 50 and Anand Kumar, 58 – and two juveniles.
DCP (South) Chandan Chowdhary said the victim lives with her maternal grandparents after the death of her parents.
“On February 14, the girl’s grandmother scolded her for excessive use of her mobile phone, following which she left her home in Tigri and met a boy in nearby Deoli,” the DCP said.
When the girl did not return home, the grandmother approached the police and an FIR was registered the same day.
The DCP said the boy took the girl to his home after convincing her that she could stay as long as she wanted and return later.
The DCP said, “There were two other girls, a woman and the woman’s son Sonu, who all appeared to be a family.”
However, the victim was forcibly confined, raped and forced into prostitution, police said.
On March 16, the police received a tip-off about the place and the next day a team raided it. An official said that the place belonged to a woman named Suman.
Soon the team located the girl in Nai Basti Deoli village and rescued her, the official said.
Suman is currently absconding and raids are being conducted to arrest him.
