Five killed, scores injured in Bangladesh container depot fire – Times of India

Dhaka: A massive fire broke out at an inland container depot in the southeast BangladeshAt least five people were killed and more than 100 were injured, officials said on Sunday.
A fire broke out at a container facility on Saturday night Sitakundu40 km (25 mi) from the port city of ChittagongOfficials said, following a major explosion, several containers exploded at the site.

Chittagong civil surgeon said the death toll could rise as some of the injured were in critical condition. Mohd Ilyas Hussain, He said firefighters and policemen were among the injured.
He urged all the doctors in the district to help them deal with the situation and called for emergency blood donation.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. Fire service officials said they suspected it may have originated from a container of hydrogen peroxide and quickly spread to other containers.
In 2020, three people were killed when an oil tank exploded at a container depot in Chittagong’s Patenga area.
