“For photo shoot…”: Andhra chief minister slams rival over rally deaths

Chandrababu Naidu had expressed grief over the death of his party workers earlier today.

Narsipatnam, Andhra Pradesh:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday blamed Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu for the death of eight people at a roadshow organized by his party at Kandukur in the state’s Nellore district. He said Chandrababu Naidu’s “publicity frenzy” had caused the tragedy, and demanded an immediate and public apology from him.

Chandrababu Naidu had expressed grief over the death of his party workers. He said, “It is a sad incident. I am very sorry about it.” The TDP has also announced that it will pay Rs 24 lakh each to the families of the eight people killed in the stampede.

Jagan Reddy, however, remained unconvinced, and launched an all-out attack on Mr. Naidu.

“Babu killed eight people for his political gains, it is very heinous and shameful. For a photo shoot, for a drone shot, even though there were few people, he made people walk down a narrow street to show a large number pushed in.” They used their vehicle as a barricade and killed eight people… Will it get worse?” he said at a public meeting in Narsipatnam.

Mr Reddy said the TDP chief, who is also a former chief minister of the state, has done this in the past as well.

Jagan Reddy said, “During Godavari Pushkaralu in 2015, he caused the death of 29 people. This is nothing new to him. He only cares about his publicity.”

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh then sharply criticized him for “cheating” and “stabbing the people in the back”.

He also criticized Mr Naidu for taking out another roadshow in Kavali town just a day after the deaths “without any remorse”.

“Instead of taking moral responsibility for the death of eight innocents, the TDP chief blamed the public,” Reddy said, adding that Chandrababu Naidu “preached people to be self-disciplined while attending public rallies”.

The Chief Minister also expressed displeasure over Mr. Naidu mentioning the castes of those who died “for petty political gains”.

Politics is not shooting, or dialogue, or drone shots, or drama. He said that politics is about what change we can bring in the families of farmers and socially marginalized groups.

“Politics is all about changing governance, changing our healthcare system and reaching out to the people,” he said.

The police have registered a case in connection with the stampede incident, stating that the public gathering caused a lot of ‘distractions’, which caused obstruction to the police and led to such an incident.

He said, “Massive speakers, huge hoardings and bike rallies created a lot of distractions and played a major role in obstructing the police. This led to the incident. Kandukuru Town Police registered a case under section 174 of CrPC Is.” ,

Nellore Superintendent Vijaya Rao said, “The incident took place at Shivalayam street in Kandukuru town. The rally was allowed in main roads, but it also moved to minor roads. A DSP-rank officer has been appointed to investigate the matter.” Will go.” of the police, said.
