The country’s first woman fighter pilot is all set to be a part of the Indian contingent that will take part in aerial exercises with Japan. Sukhoi-30MKI Squadron Leader Avani Chaturvedi will soon leave for Japan to participate in aerial exercises. This will be the first instance of a woman air warrior leading an Indian fighter squadron on foreign soil.
The exercise named ‘Veer Guardian 2023’ will be conducted from January 12 to 26 at Hyakuri Air Base in Omitama and Iruma Air Base in Sayama. The aim of the exercise is to boost air defense cooperation between the two countries.
“A contingent of IAF will leave tomorrow for Hyakury Air Base, Japan for the first exercise VEER GUARDIAN 2023 to be held with Japan Air Self Defense Force from 12 to 26 Jan 2023. The IAF will participate with four Su-30 MKIs, two C-17s. Globemasters and an IL-78 tanker,” the Indian Air Force tweeted today.
The Japan Air Self-Defense Force will coincidentally participate with four F-2 and four F-15 aircraft.
