Mr Isaac said he had not received any such notice from the Enforcement Directorate.
Thiruvananthapuram:
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served notice to senior CPI(M) leader Thomas Isaacs to appear in connection with the probe into alleged violations in financial dealings of KIIFB when he was the finance minister of Kerala in the previous LDF government. Official sources gave this information on Sunday.
Sources said Mr Isaac has been directed to appear before the probe team on Tuesday.
Mr Isaac said he has not received any such notice from the ED.
“Even if I get something like this, I will not appear because I have more important work to do,” he told PTI. They (ED) have to arrest me.
During campaigning for the state assembly elections last year, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had criticized the functioning of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), alleging that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) criticized its financial transactions.
He had also termed the operation of KIIFB as “suspicious”.
Ms Sitharaman had also questioned the role of KIIFB in making the budget of Kerala.
“I don’t know what it is to make a budget when all the money is given to a KIIFB. What is this organization? We in the central government also make a budget. We don’t give all the money to a particular agency and say, ‘ We will see’,” he had said during his party’s public meeting in Kochi last year.
