Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in ED custody till November 6

Before producing Anil Deshmukh in court, the prosecuting agency took the NCP leader to the Government JJ ​​Hospital in Mumbai for a routine medical check-up.

A Mumbai court on November 2 sent former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till November 6.

Mr Deshmukh, who was arrested by the ED late on November 1 after over 12 hours of interrogation in a money laundering case involving an alleged extortion racket at a state police establishment, was produced for remand before Additional Sessions Judge PB Jadhav, who presided. Special Holiday Court.

Before producing him in court, the prosecuting agency took the NCP leader to the Government JJ ​​Hospital in Mumbai for a routine medical check-up.

The ED had launched a probe against Mr Deshmukh and his associates after the CBI on April 21 this year registered an FIR against the NCP leader on charges of corruption and abuse of official position.

The ED’s case is that Mr Deshmukh abused his official position while serving as the home minister of the state and collected ₹4.70 crore from various bars and restaurants in Mumbai through sacked constable Sachin Vaze.

The ED has also arrested two others in the case – Sanjeev Palande (Additional Collector-rank officer who was working as personal secretary to Deshmukh) and Kundan Shinde (Deshmukh’s personal assistant).
