The ceremony was attended by Fatima’s loved ones in our grandfather’s library, a place that meant a lot to my dear sister. We won’t have any other ceremony, I’m not one for lavish weddings but it seems so unfair especially now that so many people are struggling. I missed my dear papa a lot, but he was with us. I felt him in my heart and in the form of all those present among us… pic.twitter.com/4rHJBQtVgD— Fatima Bhutto (@fbhutto) April 29, 2023
The Bhutto family remains a formidable force in Pakistani politics, but has also been beset by tragedies.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was executed by the late military dictator Zia ul Haq in April 1979 after a military coup.
Her eldest daughter, Benazir Bhutto, who also served as premier, was assassinated in Rawalpindi in December 2007.
Her brother Murtaza Bhutto was killed by police in September 1996, along with six other party workers, near Bhutto’s residence in Clifton when her sister was prime minister.
His younger brother Shahnawaz Bhutto was found dead in his apartment in France in 1985.
