A court here on Thursday granted bail to former Punjab chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal in a double constitution case filed against his party in 2009. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Rupinder Singh granted bail to Badal (94). ) in the case in which the complainant had accused the SAD of submitting two separate constitutions – one with the Gurdwara Election Commission and the other with the Election Commission of India (ECI) for recognition as a political party.
Social activist and complainant Balwant Singh Khera’s counsel Hitesh Puri said that Badal, pursuant to the interim bail order passed on Wednesday, produced surety bond/bail bond of Rs one lakh in the local lower court of ACJM. Court JPS Khurmi, Additional Sessions Judge, Hoshiarpur. Badal appeared in the trial court of ACJM on Thursday.
